Morgan Wallen knows how to keep people talking! The country star made waves on Saturday night when he abruptly left the “Saturday Night Live” stage before the show’s traditional signoff.
As host Mikey Madison wrapped up the episode, the musical guest was noticeably absent. Instead of sticking around to wave goodbye with the rest of the cast, Wallen hugged Madison and made a beeline for the audience, disappearing from the cameras.
The move left fans stunned. “Did Morgan Wallen just ghost ‘SNL’?” one viewer tweeted. “That was awkward.”
Backstage drama? Maybe. Minutes after leaving the stage, Wallen posted a cryptic Instagram Story featuring a plane with the caption, “Get me to God’s country.”
The singer’s reps have yet to comment, but social media had plenty to say. Some fans speculated that he was making a statement about the show. “He knew exactly what he was doing,” one Reddit user noted. “It was his way of saying he didn’t care for being there.”
Others weren’t as forgiving. “Total tantrum,” a fan wrote on X. “He’s never getting invited back!”
This isn’t the first time Wallen’s behavior at “SNL” has made headlines. Back in 2020, he was initially dropped from a scheduled appearance after being caught partying maskless during the pandemic. When he finally took the stage later that year, he played nice—sticking around through the goodbyes and sharing hugs with the cast.
Lately, though, the “I’m the Problem” singer has been living up to his song title. Just last year, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless endangerment after tossing a chair off a Nashville bar’s roof.
On Saturday, Wallen performed two songs: “I’m the Problem” and “Just in Case.” But it was his exit, not his music, that had everyone talking.
Was he throwing shade at the show? Did he just want to leave early? Whatever the reason, Wallen’s latest headline is keeping the drama alive.
