Hayley Williams of Paramore and bandmate Zac Farro are helping to bring Hayley’s grandpa, Rusty Williams’ lost 1970s album, Grand Man, to light. The album, which features 13 never-before-released tracks, will officially drop on February 14.
The first single, “Knocking (At Your Door,” evokes a nostalgic blend of lush, pop tones influenced by icons like Herb Alpert and Burt Bacharach. Hayley, 36, spoke passionately about the album, praising her grandfather’s ability to capture raw emotions in his music without overcomplicating them.
Farro, 34, echoed similar sentiments, expressing how “it was a crime” that Rusty’s music was left hidden for so long.
Rusty, who had written music from a young age and played in a band, shared his thoughts on the release: “I just want to know someone liked what I did… I want people to see how it felt when things were real.”
This project marks a major step in Rusty’s musical journey, which also included a feature on Hayley’s 2020 album Petals for Armor.
