Cassie is publicly backing Playboi Carti’s recent call for Kanye West to stop his social media posts.
On March 19, Playboi Carti took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a blunt message, “YE STFU.” The post quickly garnered attention after The Shade Room shared it on Instagram. Cassie, 38, responded by re-sharing the post on her Instagram Stories, amplifying Carti’s sentiment regarding West’s online actions.
This public statement from Cassie follows a series of controversial posts from West, 47, where he made inflammatory remarks about Cassie’s former partner, Sean “Diddy” Combs. West posted messages on X that seemed to support Diddy and accused Cassie of extorting him. In one now-deleted post, West claimed, “SO CASSIE AINT EXTORT PUFF? CASSIE CAME TO PUFF AND SAID GIMME 30 MILLION OR IMA RELEASE A TELL ALL BOOK THATS LOOK LIKE EXTORTION TO ME.”
West’s accusations did not stop there. He also posted messages insinuating that both he and Carti had been involved in violent acts towards women, though those posts were later deleted. He further added, “But everybody hate Diddy.” These claims ignited outrage and sparked further division in the public’s perception of West.
Playboi Carti’s response was likely fueled by his own legal issues, having been arrested in December 2022 for allegedly assaulting his pregnant girlfriend. He faced charges of aggravated assault and interfering with emergency calls but was eventually released on bond.
Meanwhile, Cassie, whose full name is Casandra Ventura, has been dealing with her own complex legal battles with Diddy. The two had an on-again, off-again relationship from 2007 to 2018. In November 2023, Cassie filed a lawsuit against Diddy, accusing him of rape, sex trafficking, and domestic violence. She publicly stated at the time, “After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships.” Diddy denied the allegations, and the case was settled privately the following day.
Adding to the public drama, Diddy is currently facing serious criminal charges. In September 2024, he was arrested on federal charges related to sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has denied all allegations, but his legal troubles continue as he remains incarcerated without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial is scheduled for May.
Cassie’s re-sharing of Carti’s post appears to be a response to the mounting drama surrounding both her and Diddy, as well as Kanye West’s latest online outbursts.
