GloRilla Addresses Megan Thee Stallion Rift After Tory Lanez Song Post Causes Stir

by Coco

Rappers GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion appear to have resolved a brief falling-out that began after GloRilla shared a song by Tory Lanez on social media.

On May 21, fans noticed that the two artists had unfollowed each other on social media. This came shortly after GloRilla posted an Instagram Story featuring Lanez’s track “Y.D.L.R.” alongside a quote about being “grateful.”

Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper, is currently serving time in prison. In 2023, he was convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during a 2020 incident. The court ruling sparked widespread debate, and the case remains highly sensitive among Megan’s supporters.

The post immediately caught the attention of blogs and fans, many of whom criticized GloRilla for seemingly promoting a song by the man who harmed her friend. Some also pointed out that Megan had deleted past birthday messages and content related to GloRilla from her social media.

Amid growing backlash, GloRilla responded on X (formerly Twitter), writing:
“Ion internet s— and I don’t do mess! It was an innocent repost yall bsn.”

She did not mention Megan by name, but her message appeared to address the controversy directly.

Soon after, fans noticed that the two stars were once again following each other on social platforms. This suggests they have reconciled behind the scenes.

GloRilla and Megan are known to be close friends. They’ve collaborated on tracks like “Wanna Be” and “How I Look,” and were recently seen performing together at the 2024 BET Awards in Los Angeles.

The situation unfolded just a day after Megan criticized Lanez in a TikTok post. She responded to his legal team’s claim that new evidence suggested he was not the shooter. Megan called him a “demon” and questioned why fans continued to spread false narratives about the case.

“At what point are y’all gonna stop making me have to relive being shot BY TORY!?” she wrote. “Like how much is the check to keep harassing me?”

She also expressed frustration that people were blaming her instead of the person convicted of the assault. “How y’all mad at the person that got shot?” she asked.

On May 14, Lanez’s legal team claimed that a bodyguard overheard someone else admit to the shooting. However, Megan’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, responded firmly.

“Tory Lanez was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers and his case was properly adjudicated through the court system,” Spiro told XXL. “This is not a political matter — this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law.”

Despite the brief tension, GloRilla and Megan seem to be back on good terms. Their decision to follow each other again indicates that they have moved past the incident — for now.
