Questlove knows that when it comes to game night, Taylor Swift is serious.
On the February 6 episode of Hot Ones, the Grammy-winning musician opened up about his star-studded game nights, sharing details of just how competitive things can get with his A-list guests.
Host Sean Evans, 38, asked the 54-year-old musician about his favorite games, mentioning the likes of J.J. Abrams, Tyler, the Creator, and Taylor Swift as frequent attendees at his events.
Questlove revealed that games like Jenga, Operation, and Clue were staples at his gatherings, but he called Uno a “personality tester.” According to Questlove, Uno quickly reveals a person’s character.
He also shared an unforgettable experience with Swift. “Taylor actually, when she first played Uno with us, she took it to levels of excitement that I didn’t know one could do in an Uno game,” he said, describing her enthusiasm during their match.
In August 2023, Questlove shared Polaroid pictures from one of his legendary game nights. Among the guests were Swift, Gigi Hadid, Jason Sudeikis, Channing Tatum, Cara Delevingne, and Trevor Noah, all competing fiercely over board and card games.
Questlove also hosted another exciting game night in October 2023, where stars like Chrissy Teigen, Tyler, the Creator, and Lionel Boyce gathered for games like Scrabble, Monopoly, and Speak Out. Teigen, 39, praised the evening on Instagram, saying, “Thank you @questlove for a truly innocent ass, pure night of joy and laughter.”
Questlove’s upcoming documentary Sly Lives! will focus on the life and legacy of Sly & The Family Stone, the influential band led by Sly Stone. The film will explore the rise and fall of the band while also shedding light on the challenges Black artists face in America.
Sly Lives! will premiere on February 13 on Hulu.
