The chart-topping rapper revealed in a recent interview that he nearly teamed up with the one and only Taylor Swift on a track. But, as he admits, it just wasn’t meant to be.
At the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards, Lil Nas X opened up to E! News, sharing a candid behind-the-scenes story. “We were working on something,” he said, about his near-collaboration with Swift. “She offered me a chance to try a verse, but it didn’t feel right. So, we just let it go.”
Despite the collab falling through, Lil Nas X had nothing but praise for the “Anti-Hero” singer. “I’m proud of my girl,” he gushed. “She’s killing it, and I love her new album. She’s on top of the world right now. I’m thankful she even thought of me.”
So, could fans one day hear the long-awaited track between these two superstars? While Lil Nas X was tight-lipped on specifics, he teased, “When it happens… Global. World. Tay-Tay and Nassy.” If it happens, it’s sure to be a game-changer!
The rapper, who has shown nothing but admiration for Swift, even posted a snap of a Taylor Swift-themed calendar to his Instagram last November. Looks like there’s still some love between them!
As for Lil Nas X, he’s entering a new phase of his career with the release of his new EP, Days Before Dreamboy. At the GLAAD Awards, he shared with People that this era is all about being true to himself. “I want to be completely free and only do what I want to do,” he said, explaining that he’s no longer chasing approval from everyone.
“Once I stopped trying to please everybody, I started showing up as my true self. Now, I’m just existing,” Lil Nas X continued. His new attitude marks a refreshing shift as he embraces his authenticity.
The “Old Town Road” star also opened up about how life has changed for him. After skyrocketing to fame with his debut album Montero in 2021, Lil Nas X took some time to live a more “mundane” life. “I needed some space. I went out into the streets, met people, ate at restaurants alone. Just some quiet time for myself,” he shared.
Fans won’t have to wait long for more from the star. With Days Before Dreamboy already out, Lil Nas X promises 2025 will be full of exciting moments. “I’m going to be outside, more than ever!” he declared. And we can’t wait to see it all unfold.
