Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift‘s friendship has certainly stood the test of time! Despite their busy schedules, the two stars always make sure to carve out time for each other—and they’ve shared some truly heartwarming moments along the way.
It’s been over a decade since their friendship began in 2012, and even with all the changes in their lives, Ed Sheeran (34) and Taylor Swift (35) continue to stay close.
The “Shape of You” singer recently opened up about their bond during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast, revealing how their friendship has remained solid despite their packed careers.
Sheeran reminisced about their early days together, specifically the time he opened for Taylor on her Red Tour back in 2012, which marked the beginning of their iconic collaboration on “Everything Has Changed.”
He admitted that thinking about those moments made him feel “nostalgic,” especially after looking back at old voice notes and texts, which he reviewed for a legal case—likely his 2023 copyright lawsuit over his hit “Thinking Out Loud” (which he won).
“Back then, we both lived in Nashville, and we used to fly to gigs together. We hung out constantly,” Sheeran recalled. “I literally spent almost every single day with her for about six months. That time really meant a lot to me.”
Their friendship has changed with time, of course. Gone are the days when they saw each other almost daily, but Ed made it clear that they still make their catch-ups count. “I probably see her like four times a year,” he said, adding that when they do get together, they don’t just have casual chats. Instead, they sit down for six-hour catchups—a luxury only true friends can afford.
In a previous interview, Sheeran revealed that Swift is one of the few people who “truly understands where I’m at.” Their long conversations are a kind of therapy for him, allowing him to discuss the insecurities, family dynamics, and pressures that come with their high-profile lives. “She’s in the same sphere,” Ed shared, expressing how meaningful their bond is.
The pair’s most recent public reunion came in August 2023, when Ed joined Taylor on stage at London’s Wembley Stadium as part of her Eras Tour. Their chemistry was undeniable, as fans were treated to a surprise duet that showed just how deep their friendship truly is.
