Brooke Candy is not holding back after Erika Jayne seemingly took credit for their collaboration “Drip” without giving proper recognition. The song, which features Jayne, was recently included in the Oscar-winning film Anora, and Candy feels she was overlooked during the conversation on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills reunion.
During part one of the reunion, host Andy Cohen brought up Anora and its connection to Jayne, saying, “We couldn’t believe our ears when we heard your song ‘Drip’ in the movie Anora.” Erika’s response was, “Thank you. I’m a feature on the song, and the movie won Palm D’or, and now it’s up for best [picture]… It’s wild, right?” However, Jayne didn’t mention Candy’s role in the track, which didn’t sit well with the rapper/singer.
In a TikTok video that followed, Candy called out Jayne for not giving her the credit she deserved. “Girl, why could you have not used that moment to give me my flowers? I put you on that song,” Candy said. “You could’ve taken that moment and given me my flowers, and you didn’t, and I think that says a lot about you.”
But Candy’s frustration didn’t stop there. She also shared her disappointment over Jayne’s private screening of Anora, where she claimed Jayne didn’t invite her. “She used [the screening] as an opportunity to promote herself,” Candy explained. “How could I not have a problem? Like, she didn’t tag me. That’s my song. She’s literally taking credit for my song.”
Candy continued, “That’s why — she’s not an artist. She doesn’t get it. But you don’t do this. It’s rude, it’s delusional, and it’s wrong.”
In a surprising twist, Candy also shared a screenshot of a text conversation between her and Jayne. After seeing Jayne’s Instagram post about the screening, Candy had reached out to ask if Jayne could tag her in the caption, explaining, “I worked hard on the song and video with a great group of artists, and I also negotiated with the film crew to put the song in the movie.” Jayne responded with a simple “Done!” and updated her post to give Candy a shout-out.
Despite the gesture, Candy expressed that she wished things had been handled better. “Even after all of that, I still texted her with empathy and grace,” Candy said in her TikTok video, concluding with, “I’d rather have collaborated with Countess Luann [de Lesseps of Housewives fame], so let that be known.”
The drama didn’t go unnoticed, as comedian Margaret Cho stepped in to support Candy. In her own TikTok post, Cho praised Candy’s talent, saying, “Brooke Candy is legit a genius. Like, Brooke Candy is such an amazing artist.” Cho also expressed disappointment in Jayne’s actions, adding, “When you work with an artist, you have to give it up to the songwriter.”
Candy’s TikTok videos, which have racked up over two million views, have sparked a heated conversation online, leaving fans to wonder if Erika Jayne will respond to the growing backlash.
