Fyre Festival 2 has hit another snag, as organizers announced the event’s postponement just weeks before it was set to take place in Isla Mujeres, Mexico.
The festival, originally slated for May 30 to June 2, 2025, was expected to offer an exclusive, high-end experience with tickets starting at $1,400.
However, ticket holders received a message on April 16 informing them of the delay and offering refunds. The message assured fans that the event is still happening, with new dates and a revised location to be revealed soon.
Organizer Billy McFarland, infamous for the disastrous Fyre Festival of 2017, has faced numerous setbacks in his efforts to reboot the event.
Originally set for Isla Mujeres, the government denied approval for the festival in early March, prompting a shift to Playa del Carmen. However, that location was also rejected, leaving fans in limbo.
Despite the hurdles, McFarland remains optimistic. “Our priorities remain unchanged: delivering an unforgettable, safe, and transparent experience,” the message read. McFarland had previously defended his decision to bring the festival back, stating in 2023, “I feel I’d be crazy not to do it again.”
The original Fyre Festival became infamous for its disastrous execution, with attendees arriving to find a far cry from the luxury promised in promotional materials.
The failed event was later immortalized in two documentaries, Netflix’s FYRE: The Greatest Party That Never Happened and Hulu’s Fyre Fraud. McFarland served prison time for his role in the fiasco, but he is now pushing forward with plans for Fyre Festival 2.
