Gracie Abrams is done scrolling through the negativity.
In her brand-new Billboard cover story released Thursday, April 17, the 25-year-old “That’s So True” singer opened up about how she deals with the darker side of social media—and spoiler alert: she doesn’t.
“I can know that 10 people a day are having that conversation on Twitter — that’s cool for them,” Abrams shared with a shrug. “I’m just going to mind my own business, really.”
For the Grammy-nominated artist, tuning out the noise is not just a preference—it’s a survival strategy.
“Every time I’ve let myself get pulled into that rabbit hole, I’m less present with the people I love. I’m not showing up in my real life the way I want to. And honestly, it’s just not good for me or for the music I want to make,” she explained.
When it comes to trolls and haters, Abrams’ solution is simple: don’t look. “If I don’t see it, it doesn’t exist,” she said with a laugh, calling online negativity “boring as hell.”
Taking Notes from the Queen of Calm: Taylor Swift
The rising star also reflected on her time as an opener for Taylor Swift’s massive Eras Tour—an experience that offered not just a career boost, but some invaluable perspective.
“Being around someone like Taylor, who’s had such a wildly public life, really helps me put my own experience into perspective,” she said. “I mean, in comparison, I don’t have it that bad. Watching how she handles it all made me feel a lot more grounded.”
That kind of clarity has also influenced how she views the public’s interest in her personal life—including her love life.
“If I let that affect how I move through the world romantically or personally… that would just be so unfortunate,” Abrams admitted.
Love in the City: Gracie and Paul Mescal Keep Things Cozy
Speaking of her love life, Gracie’s relationship with actor Paul Mescal is still going strong. Earlier this month, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple spent time together in New York City in late March, carving out moments despite their demanding careers.
“Last month, Gracie showed her support for Paul by attending A Streetcar Named Desire in Brooklyn,” the insider revealed. “Even with their busy schedules, they’re clearly making each other a priority. The chemistry between them is undeniable. They’re real lovebirds.”
Back in November 2024, another source called the duo “the real deal,” and it seems nothing has changed—except maybe their zip codes.
Grounded and Glowing
Gracie Abrams is clearly focused on what matters: music, authenticity, and the people she loves. Whether she’s honoring a late fan in Dublin or dodging digital drama, she’s not letting fame warp her sense of self.
And when it comes to haters? She’d rather not even give them a glance.
