The rapper turned 27 this week and threw herself a star-studded birthday bash where Justin Bieber was among the surprise guests. On Thursday, April 17, she shared a video from the party that showed her cozying up to the “Peaches” singer, and fans had opinions.
In the now-viral clip, Sexyy Red is seen strutting up to Bieber’s table and leaning in for a hug. He greets her warmly with a kiss on the cheek, and the two exchange bright smiles. Moments later, the video cuts to them goofing off together, busting out some silly dance moves — very clearly enjoying each other’s company.
The rapper captioned the post with her signature flair:
“My two personalities… thank for comin friend @justinbieber 🫶🏾 HAPPY BIRTHDAY 2 DA BADDEST 🎂🎊”

But while most fans were hyped to see the duo vibing, one commenter stirred the pot, writing:
“Justin don’t be smiling like that with his girl 😭”
Sexyy Red wasted no time jumping in to defend the Biebers. She clapped back with a quick and firm:
“yes he do!!”
And she’s got a point — Bieber himself shared the same video on his Instagram, letting the moment speak for itself with no caption needed. But his wife Hailey Baldwin Bieber didn’t miss a beat — she dropped in with a sweet reaction, commenting three heart-eyes emojis under the post. Justin also posted a stylish black-and-white selfie with the birthday girl, confirming the vibes were all love and positivity.
The celeb chatter comes shortly after Justin and Hailey were spotted out for dinner in West Hollywood on April 16, fresh off a chill weekend at Coachella.
Still, rumors about the pop star’s well-being continue to swirl. A source recently told PEOPLE that some of Justin’s old crew are “worried” about the singer.
“He is facing a lot of different demons right now,” the insider claimed. “He is making some really poor decisions lately, further impacting friendships, money, and business.”
The concerns reportedly stem from multiple stressors, including the high-profile legal troubles surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs, with whom Bieber was loosely connected in the 2010s, and a reportedly strained relationship with longtime manager Scooter Braun, who announced his retirement earlier this year. Bieber has also parted ways with his fashion brand Drew House.
Adding fuel to the fire, an ex-associate recently claimed to The Hollywood Reporter that Bieber is “lost” and financially in the red after canceling his Justice Tour in 2022 — saying he’s racked up millions in debt.
But Bieber’s team isn’t having any of it. A rep told PEOPLE:
“This is just clickbait stupidity based on unnamed — and clearly ill-informed — ‘sources,’ disappointed that they no longer work with Justin. As Justin forges his own way forward, these unnecessary stories and inaccurate assumptions will continue. But, they won’t deter him from staying committed to following the right path.”
So, while the internet speculates, Sexyy Red is keeping it real — and reminding fans that sometimes a birthday dance and a cheek kiss are just that.
