Nigerian music heavyweights Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Asake, Tems, Ayra Starr, Darkoo, and more took center stage at the 2025 Africa Arts Entertainment Awards (AAEA), sweeping multiple honors and reinforcing their dominance on the continent’s music scene.
The prestigious award show, which celebrates excellence in African music and entertainment, announced its winners via its official platform, showcasing a vibrant lineup of talent from across the diaspora.
Wizkid’s soulful collaboration with American singer Brent Faiyaz, Piece of My Heart, clinched the Best Afro-R&B award. Davido and Chris Brown scored Best Global Collaboration for their infectious hit Hmm, bridging Afrobeat and international pop.
Rising star Asake took home Best Afro-Native for MMS featuring Wizkid, while UK-based Nigerian artist Darkoo won Best Diasporan Act for Favourite Girl (Remix) featuring Rema.
Burna Boy added another major accolade to his repertoire, earning the coveted title of Overall Male Artist in Africa. South African sensation Tyla was crowned Overall Female Artist of the Year and also named Best Female Artist, Southern Africa.
Tems received international recognition as Best Global African Female Artiste, and West Africa’s rap scene was honored through OdumoduBlvck, who took home Best Rapper, West Africa.
Seyi Vibez triumphed as Best Male Artist, West Africa, while Ayra Starr was honored as Best Female Artist, West Africa, solidifying her role as a Gen Z powerhouse in African pop.
The AAEA continues to spotlight and reward outstanding achievements in African music, celebrating the artists shaping the cultural narrative both at home and on the global stage.
