Sean Ono Lennon wants fans to know one thing loud and clear: there’s no drama between him and his big brother Julian Lennon.
The 49-year-old musician took to Instagram Stories on April 21 to share a heartfelt message from a fan account. The post urged people to stop comparing the two brothers and spreading rumors about them not getting along.
“Here, we do not accept comparisons and erroneous creations of fights about two people that John Lennon loved the most: his children :)” the post read. Sean gave it his stamp of approval by reposting it for all his followers to see.
Alongside the message was a sweet throwback photo of Sean and Julian at the 1986 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, where they helped honor Elvis Presley.
Julian, 62, is the son of Beatles legend John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia. Sean is John’s son with his second wife, Yoko Ono. Even though they grew up in different homes, Sean and Julian have always shared a strong bond—and they often show that love online.
Dinner, Laughs, and Late-Night Chats at The Dakota
Back in December, Julian posted a touching moment on Instagram after spending time with Sean at The Dakota—the iconic New York City building where John Lennon lived and was tragically killed in 1980.
“A Goodnight kiss for my brother, after spending the evening with him, having a lil dinner & chatting the night away,” Julian wrote. “Something we rarely get to do…Thankful.”
Fans were thrilled to see the brothers hanging out in the same place their dad once called home.
A Bond Built on Music, Memories, and More
Both Sean and Julian have followed in their father’s footsteps by making music, but they’ve never let fame get in the way of family. In fact, Julian told PEOPLE in 2022 that Sean is his “best mate.”
“We just talk daily, same as anybody would,” he said. They chat about everything—from music and photography to food and fitness.
And in June 2024, Julian shared another heartfelt Instagram post featuring Sean:
“Missing My Brother Sean… More time together please! 😘 (Problem is, we both work so hard & on opposite sides of the pond 🙃)”
Carrying John Lennon’s Legacy with Pride
Sean isn’t just proud of his own music—he’s also proud to protect and promote his dad’s legendary work.
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Sean spoke openly about what it means to carry the Lennon name.
“In terms of balancing and being the custodian of [my dad’s] music and my own music, it’s not a burden,” he said. “It’s honestly a great privilege for me.”
“I just feel so lucky that I get to do good by my dad, you know?”
Final Notes: One Big Musical Family
So if you ever hear anyone trying to stir up drama between the Lennon brothers, don’t buy it. Sean and Julian aren’t just family—they’re friends. Real ones.
And as Julian once put it:
“We’re brothers and we love each other deeply on that level.”
It’s that simple. Just love, no rivalry.
