John Edwards, the iconic lead singer of The Spinners, has passed away at the age of 80.
The legendary R&B and soul artist, who became a key member of the group after Phillippe Wynne’s departure, had been in poor health for years following a stroke that led to his retirement from the band more than two decades ago.
The Spinners’ official Facebook page paid tribute to Edwards, noting his immense contribution to the group’s success.
“He proved more than capable of bearing the burden, ensuring that the excellence fans came to associate with The Spinners would continue uninterrupted,” the post read.
Edwards’ legacy remains a vital part of The Spinners’ lasting influence on the R&B genre.
