Tory Lanez’s team has confirmed the shocking news: the rapper was stabbed 14 times in prison.
On May 12, TMZ first reported that Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was attacked by another inmate at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi. His team later shared details of the incident in an official statement posted on his Instagram.
The statement revealed that Tory was stabbed in multiple areas, including seven wounds on his back, four on his torso, two on his head, and one on his face. Both of his lungs collapsed, and he needed a breathing machine. Thankfully, he’s now breathing on his own.
Despite his injuries, Lanez is in good spirits. “He is talking normally and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the statement said. His team also expressed gratitude for the ongoing prayers and support from his fans.
The incident reportedly happened around 7:20 a.m. in a prison housing unit. Prison staff quickly responded, calling 911 and providing medical aid before rushing Lanez to the hospital by ambulance.
The attack is currently under investigation by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
