Tina Knowles recently revealed how she put her daughters, Beyoncé and Solange, in therapy when they were kids to stop a “wall” from forming between them.
In a new interview, Tina explained that while her girls, now 43 and 38, were very different growing up, she saw their bond starting to slip.
When Beyoncé was around 10 or 11, Tina noticed Solange was often left out by the other kids in the group. Solange wanted to be involved in choreography, but the others didn’t want her to join.
Tina also saw Beyoncé allowing them to treat Solange unfairly, which concerned her. “I saw a wall between them coming,” Tina shared. So, she decided to take action.
Though therapy was considered “taboo” at the time, Tina insisted on finding a therapist. Beyoncé hated it, but Solange loved it. “The outcome was great,” Tina said. “They’ve been super tight since.”
Tina also spoke about how she raised her girls, noting their different personalities. “I couldn’t lump them into one category,” she said, adding that spending individual time with them made them feel special.
Tina’s story is a sweet reminder of how a mother’s love and determination can help keep family bonds strong.
