‘born This Way’: Bain Honors Lady Gaga While Coming Out To Fans

by Coco

K-pop singer Bain just had a big moment — and fans are cheering!

During Just B’s concert in Los Angeles on April 22, the 23-year-old performer (real name Song Byeong-hee) shared a powerful message with the crowd. Right in the middle of the show, Bain grabbed the mic and proudly came out.

“I want to share something with you guys,” Bain said at the Vermont Hollywood Hall, as seen in a video he later posted on Instagram. “I’m f—— proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community — as a gay person.”

The crowd went wild, cheering and waving rainbow flags. One fan right in front of the stage waved a huge Pride flag back and forth as Bain spoke.

Bain also gave a special shout-out to someone who inspires him a lot. “Shout out to my queen Lady Gaga, because she showed that being different is beautiful!” he said. Bain had even performed Gaga’s hits “Judas” and “Born This Way” earlier on tour.

After the show, Bain posted another message online for his fans.

“To anyone out there who’s part of the LGBTQ+ community, or still figuring it out — this is for you,” he wrote. “You are seen, you are loved, and you were born this way. 🏳️‍🌈”

His bandmates from Just B were quick to show their support. According to Korean platform Fromm, Siwoo said, “I was watching from backstage and I cried too. I cried even more because I knew how hard it was for him.”

Fans caught even more touching moments after the show. In a video shared online, Bain thanked the crowd again before leaving the stage.

“L.A., thank you so much,” he said. “Today, it means a lot to me — I’m so happy that I can be myself.”

One of his fellow members added, “We are happy too!” Bain smiled and finished with a message for everyone:
“Until next time: stay bold, stay fierce, and lastly, always, always be your true self.”

This moment was extra special because it’s still rare for K-pop stars to talk openly about being LGBTQ+. While artists like Holland and Mrshll have shared their stories before, it’s still a big deal, especially in South Korea, where same-sex marriage isn’t legal and discrimination is common, according to Human Rights Watch.

Just B, made up of Bain, Siwoo, Sangwoo, DY, Geonu, JM, and Lim Ji-min, debuted in 2021. They’ve dropped five EPs and several singles. Their 2025 Just B World Tour wrapped up with the L.A. concert after a month of traveling across North America.

Bain’s brave moment will definitely be remembered — and celebrated — for a long time.
