Demi Lovato knows how to throw a party!
On Friday, April 25, Demi made a surprise appearance at the opening night of The Tryst, a new luxury boutique hotel in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The singer, 32, hit the rooftop stage to perform her hit 2015 song “Cool for the Summer,” getting the crowd pumped up under the stars.
Before her performance, Demi showed off her cool style, posing on the red carpet in jeans and sunglasses. Guests danced the night away as DJ Leland kept the energy high.
It wasn’t just Demi bringing the fun. Big names like Jennifer Coolidge, Erika Jayne, Cynthia Bailey, Sonja Morgan, Antoni Porowski, Julia Fox, Laverne Cox, Chrishell Stause, Sam Asghari, TS Madison, Kate del Castillo, and more partied along at the grand opening.
The Tryst, created by entrepreneur Tristan Schukraft, is designed for LGBTQ+ travelers to feel safe, happy, and free. “You can be who you want to be here without any judgment,” Schukraft said. “And you’re going to meet likeminded people from the community.” He even plans to open another Tryst hotel on New York’s Fire Island.
Demi shared why places like The Tryst mean so much to her. “Knowing that there’s a space where you’re not only safe but celebrated means everything,” she said. “When we travel, we want to feel that we belong. Not just that we’re tolerated, but that we are genuinely welcomed. These places remind us that joy, community and chosen family are powerful.”
She added, “Honestly, no one knows how to put a joyful celebration together like the queer community.”
Jennifer Coolidge, who also made a special appearance, totally agreed. The White Lotus star, 63, told PEOPLE on the red carpet, “I think gay men and gay women just let loose and have a blast — they know how to have a really fun time. And they’re really original. I don’t know, just a superior group of people. I can’t get enough of this, frankly.”
The whole weekend at The Tryst was packed with fun. There were performances by singer Vincint and Drag Race México host Taiga Brava. RuPaul’s Drag Race stars Gottmik and Violet Chachki rocked a DJ set on Thursday, April 24. On Saturday, April 26, Shea Couleé is set to perform at a fabulous drag brunch, followed by a pool party hosted by Erika Jayne.
Demi also had a powerful message for LGBTQ+ fans everywhere: “Please know you are so deeply loved, seen and celebrated. Pride is about owning your truth and letting that truth shine unapologetically. You are worthy of joy, of safety and of love exactly as you are.”
Looks like summer is off to a very cool start thanks to Demi and her friends!
