In a recent episode of the popular podcast Las Culturistas, Lady Gaga revealed a surprising behind-the-scenes story about her latest album, Mayhem.
The 14-time Grammy winner confessed that she almost cut the fan-favorite track “How Bad Do U Want Me” from the album, but her fiancé Michael Polansky stepped in to save the day.
Gaga shared that she started working on the synth-heavy song at home, and when Polansky heard her singing it, he jokingly asked if it was about him.
The two then collaborated to finish the track, which Gaga described as a “total hyper-pop song.” The song embodies a feeling she’s had her whole life—being stereotyped as the “bad girl” and wondering if her partners truly want her or an idealized “good girl.”
Polansky’s encouragement played a crucial role in keeping the song on the album. Gaga admitted she was hesitant due to its pop nature, but Polansky assured her that her fans would love it.
This decision echoes her past experience with “Just Dance,” which also faced initial doubts but became a massive hit.
Mayhem, Gaga’s latest album, is a genre-bending celebration of her musical roots, blending dark pop with personal reflections.
The album has been well-received, with Gaga recently performing tracks like “Abracadabra” and “Killah” on Saturday Night Live.
