In an exclusive new interview on the iHeartPodcast show Las Culturistas, Lady Gaga opened up about the heartfelt message she delivered at the 2025 Grammys, where she and Bruno Mars took home the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit, “Die with a Smile.”
At the star-studded February 2nd ceremony in Los Angeles, Gaga captivated the audience with a passionate plea for the transgender community. “I just want to say tonight that trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love. The queer community deserves to be lifted up,” she boldly declared.
Speaking to Las Culturistas hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, the pop icon shared that this moment was an “absolute privilege.” She had promised herself that if she won a Grammy, she would use her moment to speak up for a cause that is close to her heart.
“I told myself, if I win, I have to say something for a community that is going through violence and neglect,” she explained. “It’s my privilege to be part of this community. The language we share is one of love, truth, and authenticity. And I owe so much of who I am to the stories of the people I’ve met, their realness and bravery.”
Gaga also expressed deep gratitude for her LGBTQ+ friends, calling their openness a “real gift.” Reflecting on her iconic album Born This Way (2011), she shared that it holds a special place in her heart. “Born This Way is easily my favorite album. It’s a love letter to the queer community, and a reflection of all that I’ve learned from them.”
For Gaga, her connection to the LGBTQ+ community goes beyond words. She sees herself as part of a movement that encourages authenticity and inclusivity. “I think this is an important time for us all to be real with each other and ask for what we need,” she added.
