Shakira And Wyclef Reunite For ‘hips Don’T Lie’ 20th Anniversary

The superstar singer just reunited with rapper Wyclef Jean for a special performance of their 2005 smash hit “Hips Don’t Lie” to celebrate the song’s 20th anniversary. The exciting moment happened on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, May 6, and fans are still buzzing.

At the start of the performance, Shakira, 48, appeared lying on a sandy stage in a dazzling red dress. Then, like the queen she is, she stood up and started moving her famous hips to the rhythm — reminding us all exactly why this song is such a hit.

After a dramatic buildup, Wyclef Jean, 55, joined her onstage and jumped right into his verse. The energy between the two stars was electric, just like when the song first dropped nearly two decades ago.

Midway through the performance, Shakira was joined by a group of dancers, all dressed in matching red outfits, giving the stage a fiery and unforgettable look.

“Hips Don’t Lie” was released in 2005 on Shakira’s Oral Fixation Vol. 2 album and quickly became a global hit. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100, Hot Latin Songs, and Pop Airplay charts. And clearly, it’s still going strong!

Back in 2022, Shakira celebrated the song hitting 1 billion streams on Spotify.

“Wow! One billion streams for ‘Hips Don’t Lie,’” she wrote on Instagram, posing with a special plaque. “Thank you to @spotify for the plaque, to @wyclefjean for the collaboration and to all of you for your incredible support.”

Spotify even responded, writing: “This track will always be a bop 🔥.”

If you thought that performance was amazing, just wait — Shakira is hitting the road again!

Her 2025 Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour is about to begin on Tuesday, May 13, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The tour was originally supposed to start in November 2024, but because of how massive it’s become, she had to push it back and upgrade to stadiums instead of arenas.

“This is the biggest tour of my career,” Shakira shared in a statement. “The production of my show is now also so much larger and unlike anything I’ve done before.”

After her Latin American tour, the North American leg will bring her to major cities like Toronto, Boston, Washington D.C., Miami, and more. She’ll wrap things up on June 30 at Oracle Park in San Francisco.

The tour celebrates her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran and marks her first world tour since 2018’s El Dorado World Tour.

With her hips still hypnotizing and her music still dominating charts and hearts, Shakira is proving that legends never fade. Whether it’s a surprise reunion or a world tour, she’s reminding the world that her rhythm is here to stay — and we’re dancing right along with her.
