Who says prom night can’t be fun and cheesy?
Benny Blanco wanted to make sure his fiancée Selena Gomez got the prom experience she had never had. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show in April, Benny shared that he surprised Selena with a special prom-themed party after learning she never went to her own high school senior dance.
Then, on April 24, Benny took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes video of their hilarious mall photoshoot, marking the end of their special prom night. In the clip, Benny added the classic tune “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr. as a soundtrack, calling it a “wow” moment.
He revealed, “My fiancée has never been to prom before… so I asked her if we should take prom photos together at a mall… she said yes!” He also treated Selena to a limo ride for the occasion.
Selena, 32, looked stunning in a purple high-low gown, black tights, and booties, and topped off her outfit with a dramatic furry coat. Benny, 37, looked sharp in a black tuxedo and bowtie. They slipped into sweatsuits to hide their fancy outfits as they took the limo to the mall, where they headed straight to a photo studio.
Benny shared the fun behind-the-scenes moments in the video, where the couple posed together with a pedestal against a lavender background. “It was more fun than either of us expected it to be,” he said, clearly enjoying the experience.
Fans quickly took to the comments to rave about Benny’s creative date idea. One fan wrote, “Can all men take notes please?” Another added, “The greenest flag to ever be flown!!!!! We love you Benny!!!!” Someone even joked, “Did u come straight out of a romance novel or what?”
Earlier this month, Benny revealed that he had thrown Selena a special prom party for his birthday, making sure she had the prom experience she missed out on. “Selena had never been to a prom before, so I thought I’d throw us a prom for my birthday,” he explained.
Benny, who had gone to prom multiple times in the past, said nothing compared to the experience of going with Selena. “Honestly, my favorite prom was with my partner,” he shared.
Selena, who was a little nervous about the night, even asked, “What am I supposed to wear? What am I supposed to do?!” before the big event. But Benny made sure to get her a corsage—just like a true prom date would.
This cheesy mall photoshoot will definitely be a moment to remember for these two!
