The pop icon, alongside Bruno Mars, took home the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award for their collaboration on “Die with a Smile.” Gaga shared her heartfelt thanks to fans on social media, noting that the win was extra special for her as a songwriter. She expressed how important it is to tell stories that touch people’s hearts, adding, “Love is what we all need right now.”
The duo’s heartfelt acceptance speech touched on their deep admiration for one another, with Gaga calling Mars “a musician for the ages” and expressing her honor in working with him. Mars, in return, thanked Gaga, saying that they were destined to collaborate on the song.
Gaga also took the stage to champion the LGBTQ+ community, delivering an emotional message that earned her a standing ovation. “Trans people are not invisible. Trans people deserve love,” she said, reaffirming her support for equality and love through music.
The duo performed “California Dreamin’” during the ceremony to honor those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Gaga also premiered the music video for her new single “Abracadabra,” off her upcoming album Mayhem.
