Ariana Grande Opens Up About PTSD, Grief, And Music’s Healing Power During Sweetener And Thank U, Next

Ariana Grande has revealed the emotional struggles she faced while creating her albums Sweetener and Thank U, Next. In a candid interview on the Feb. 3 episode of the Hollywood Reporter podcast Awards Chatter, the Grammy-winning artist shared her battle with PTSD, grief, depression, and anxiety during that period.

Following the 2017 Manchester bombing, which devastated her fans, and the heartbreaking loss of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller just a month after Sweetener’s release, Grande was dealing with overwhelming emotions. Despite this, music became her lifeline. “It was a means of survival,” she reflected, noting how the urgency of creating Thank U, Next in just two weeks helped her cope.

Grande also emphasized the importance of her deep connection with fans, who have found solace in her music. Her willingness to defy industry norms and follow her heart allowed her to heal while staying true to her artistry. “It was really healing and freeing,” she said, adding that her bond with her fans has been one of the most meaningful aspects of her career.
